In our office, corrective care methods that have helped many people get through chronic spinal conditions like back pain, neck pain, scoliosis, posture problems, disc issues, and numbness and tingling in the arms and legs. So in this video, I am going to give you these three great tips that you can do at home to relieve lower back spasms.

Tip number one, strategy number one. What you are going to do is you are going to alternate ice and heat. Back spasms will be very pain. Forst thing you want to do is number that pain, bring that pain down with an ice pack. Wrap that ice pack with a lukewarm, moistened towel or paper towel so it is not shocking to your skin and place it on that lower back area where that lower back spasm is. Do that for 10 minute, maybe 15 and then take a break for about 40 minutes and then do the same with a heating pad. Wrap the heating pad around the little towel as well so it does not burn your skin and place it on that lower back spasm. The ice will help number that pain, give that instant relief. The heat will help to calm those spasm tight muscles and help feel good as well. So ultimately, ice for about 10 to 15 minutes, break for 40 minutes, then heat for 10 to 15 minutes. DO this cycle maybe two or three times as needed until that back spasm and that discomfort is relieved.

Tip number two for lower back spasm relief is an Epsom salt bath. I used to be a marathon runner and used to get a lot of cramps in my legs, hips and lower back. One of the things I did to have great relief in my lower back, hips, legs, muscles spasms and aches after running long distances was take an Epsom salt bath. Especially a hot bath as it really helped relieve that spasm in the lower back area and help relax your entire musculature and leave your overall body relaxed. You can pick some Epsom salt at your local store. Put two or even three cups in your bath and then stir it around and soak in it for about 10 to 20 minutes.

The thid tip to get that lower back spasm relief is an exercise called child pose. You may heard of it, it’s a great exercise. You can do it either on the floor, on your bed, at home to stretch out your back and really get relief of that lower lumbar, lower back spasm. You get on the floor or bed, and on your knees. You are going to lie forward and stretch out your arms out all the way and just let your body fall into a relaxed position and stay there however long you need to, to get that relief. Let your whole body settle in, relax, take some deep breaths while you’re in there.
